AIRBEDS

Question:
Can I use an airbed on my existing bedspring?
Answer:
Airbeds may be placed on any serviceable bedspring or solid foundation. Old or damaged bedsprings can diminish the performance and comfort of the airbed and may even cause damage to the beds. INTEX airbeds perform best on solid foundations.

Question:
Can I use normal sheets for my INTEX airbed?
Answer:
Yes, normal sheets will work perfectly on your airbed. It is best if you make sure that the pocket on your sheets are the correct depth of the airbed.

Question:
Can I use other brand's pump for inflating the airbeds?
Answer:
Yes, you can use another brand's pump but we recommend using an INTEX pump. They are designed specifically for INTEX airbeds. Other pumps may reduce the performance or even cause damage to the airbeds.

Question:
Can I wash my airbed?
Answer:
With mild soap water. Thoroughly rinse and air dry. Do not use the airbed on the water; water saturation may be harmful to some materials used in the making of the airbed. And washing by a washing machine is far more dangerous which will cause unexpected damage.

Question:
Does the Intex airbed come with a warranty?
Answer:
No, the airbeds do not have a warranty, however most merchants will replace any defective product if returned in a reasonable period of time. In addition we offer service and assistance for manufacturing defects within the first 90 days from the date of original purchase. A copy of the validated sales receipt must be provided upon request. The service includes, troubleshooting, technical advice, replacement of inflation and deflation valve caps and plugs, offer repair patch or repair kit to fix small leakage, and replacement of other components depending on the airbed model.

Question:
How are the airbeds constructed?
Answer:
There are five types of construction used on Intex Airbeds. I-Beam construction is characterized by parallel vinyl beams oriented vertically or horizontally. Coil Beam construction is differentiated by open loops of vinyl, each attached by a weld (typically circular) at the top and bottom of the bed. Wave Beam is a converted I-Beam construction consisting of equally distanced air channels creating a wave like surface. Comfort-Top Construction is Two Layers. It has an I-Beam base and a top layer of circular imprints attached by a weld to a solid sheet of vinyl providing flexibility. Air-flow construction has diamond shaped pockets that allow air to flow smoothly from one pocket to another.

Question:
How can I differentiate the valves?
Answer:
A Built-in Pump is a pump that is mounted inside of the airbed with the panel portion showing. A 3-in-1 Valve has two "clips" on either side of the Valve Cap that allows for easy removal. A 2-in-1 Valve does not have "clips" and instead consists simply of a screw-on cap, and a plug that fits on top, and in the center, of the cap itself. The Exhaust Valve Cap and Plug consists of a rubber stopper plug that is inserted first, while the screw-on cap is placed on top of the plug. The Double-Valve is a vinyl valve stem that is attached to the mattress and is reminiscent of a beach ball valve.

Question:
I misplaced the transformer to my Fast-Fill Pump. Which transformer do I purchase to replace it?
Answer:
If your pump states 12volt DC, 6.5A you need to purchase: Input: 120volt, 60Hz. Output: 12volt DC, 150mA, Class 2 transformer. 230volt, 50Hz. Output: 12volt DC, 150mA, Class 2 transformer.

Question:
If my airbed has a leak, how can I find it?
Answer:
First, make sure the plug and cap are secure, replace it if necessary. You can also put liquid soap in a squirt bottle and spray on seams. If there is a leak it will bubble. (Laundry detergent and dishwasher detergent will not work; they do not have the "bubbling" effect)

Question:
Since my airbed has flocking, how can I use the repair patch - it won't adhere to the flocking?
Answer:
The repair patch is designed for vinyl surfaces only. However, with a fine sandpaper,such as an emery board, can be used to gently rub away the flocking. When that is complete, the repair patch will hold.

Question:
What is the approximate weight capacity of Intex airbeds?
Answer:
Twin size = 300 lbs / 136 kg; Double, Queen, King = 600 lbs / 272 kg.

Question:
What pump should I use with my airbed?
Answer:
All Intex Double Quick Hand Pumps, Bellows Foot Pumps and Quick-Fill Electric Pumps work on all Intex products. NOTE: do not over inflate the airbeds.

Question:
What type of valve does my airbed have?
Answer:
The airbeds have a Built-In Pump, a 3-in-1 Valve, a 2-in-1 Valve, an Exhaust Valve Cap and Plug, or a Double Valve.

Question:
Why doesn't the product measure out to the size stated on the box?
Answer:
INTEX airbeds state the approximate inflated size; Make sure the airbed is inflated before it is measured. Make sure to incorporate the bulge on whichever side you are measuring. All sizes are approximate which will effect by the pressure, temperature and etc… It's normal when you get a measure error of ±1" (2.54cm).
Question:
Why won't my Fast-Fill Rechargeable Pump work? I turn it on and nothing happens.
Answer:
Approximately 10 hours are required to fully charge the batteries. This applies to the first time charge and all subsequent recharges.

Question:
Will the Fast-Fill Rechargeable Pump inflate my airbed?
Answer:
Only if your airbed was designed for use with this pump.

AUTO POOL CLEANER

Question:
Does the auto cleaner have an electrical motor?
Answer:
No. The auto cleaner is not an electrical device. It relies on water flow to operate.

Question:
Should the auto cleaner hose be connected to the inlet (water from pool to pump) or the outlet (water from pump to pool) connection?
Answer:
The auto cleaner suction is based on the venturi effect. (See Owners Manual). One end of the hose should be connected to the auto pool cleaner and the other end to the pool's outlet where water from the pump returns back into the pool.

Question:
What is the easiest way to take out the auto cleaner from the water after each use?
Answer:
1) Make sure the pump is off and the power cord unplugged from the electrical outlet. 2) Lift the auto cleaner just below the water surface level by pulling the hose up slowly. 3) Grasp the hose with one hand and lift the auto cleaner out of the water slowly at an angle to drain out all the water of the body. 4) After all the water is drained out; hold the auto cleaner base with both hands to remove from the pool. Do not grasp the bumpers.

Question:
What is the recommended filter pump size (flow rate) for the auto cleaner to operate properly?
Answer:
The auto cleaner requires a filter pump with a flow rate between 2,000 to 5,000 gal/hr (7,570 -18,925 L/hr) to operate properly.

Question:
What should I do if the auto cleaner does not move or moves very slowly?
Answer:
If the pool floor is not even or smooth, it will hinder the free movement of the auto cleaner. Pull the auto cleaner's hose gently to release the auto cleaner from the floor wrinkles and uneven areas. Also make sure the pump is on and running, the plunger valves are opened, and the filter cartridge and auto cleaner's debris net are clean. If this is a chronic problem the pool will have to be drained and the floor wrinkles smoothed out.

Question:
What should I do if the auto cleaner lifts off from the pool's floor?
Answer:
Make sure all the air is removed from inside the auto cleaner. Follow the owner's manual on how to release the air.

Question:
Why does the auto cleaner have some tiny holes on the upper housing?
Answer:
The tiny holes are vent holes for trapped air in the chamber to escape. Do not block or obstruct the vent holes. All air must be removed from the auto cleaner system for it to perform properly.

CHEMICAL WATER BALANCE

Question:
How do you lose chlorine content in the pool?
Answer:
Bright sunlight is the biggest contributing factor in causing the loss of free chlorine from open air pools, mainly due to the presence of ultra violet light.

Question:
How do you remove algae?
Answer:
Algae will die from chlorine with concentrations as low as 0.05ppm.

Question:
What are the black stains on vinyl lined pools?
Answer:
Black stains on a vinyl lined pool may indicate excessive amount of algae or other normal water minerals, plus excessive amounts of suntan oils may be in the pool water.

Question:
What can algae do to the pool?
Answer:
They make the water unsuitable for use.

Question:
What causes the chlorine odor?
Answer:
Not enough free chlorine. Surprisingly, the problem here is not excessive amounts of chlorine, like many would assume. Chloramines form by the bonding of chlorine with amines from sweat and other sources. These chloramines can create a chlorine odor and can also cause eye and skin irritation.

Question:
What happens if the pH level or the alkalinity levels are too high or too low?
Answer:
Skin and eye irritations will occur.

Question:
What is algae?
Answer:
There are some 24,000 known types of algae and they all are single celled organisms, capable of photosynthesis, mitosis and meiosis. That is, they produce their own food. All cells can divide and reproduce by combining with other algae cells.

Question:
What is stabilizer?
Answer:
A Stabilizer (Cyanuric Acid) extends the life of free chlorine in outdoor swimming pools by protecting chlorine from the degrading effects of the sun's ultraviolet (UV) rays.

Question:
What is the different between using Chlorine and Bromine in pool as a sanitizer?
Answer:
Chlorine is the most commonly used sanitizer in swimming pools. As it is less expensive than bromines. Bromines can be used in pools but it is better suited for hot spas, as it can withstand heat longer than chlorine. Thereby being a better sanitizer for spas.

Question:
What test kits and chemicals should I use?
Answer:
We always refer consumers to their local pool supplies store for any information regarding chemical use. They would know about your water hardness and the available products to suit your needs. There are a variety of test kits available for home or commercial use. INTEX supplies 3 in 1 test strips which can provide three tests - for free available chlorine, total alkalinity and pH.

Approximately how many gallons of water does the pool hold?
Answer:

Question:
Can I set the pool up on a concrete patio?
Answer:
Yes, as long as the pool location allows you to secure all doors and windows. A ground cloth under the pool is highly recommended. Do not drag the liner across the concrete, as abrasions will cause holes. The surface must be flat, level and stable.

Question:
Can a portable water heater be used for this type of pool?
Answer:
On Pools 12' in diameter and smaller Intex's pool heater (item number 56683E) can be used. (IRC); On Pools 15' in diameter and smaller Intex's pool heater (item number 56684) can be used. (IO)

Question:
Can grass grow through the ground cloth and / or pool liner?
Answer:
Yes, in some cases certain types of hardy grass such as Bermuda or St. Augustine can grow through the liner. Before setting up your pool, it is recommended that you clear the area of these types of hardy grasses. Intex will not be held responsible for grasses that may grow through the ground cloth and / or pool liner, as this is not a manufacturing defect. A ground cloth or tarp may be helpful in preventing this from occurring.

Question:
Can the pool and pump be purchased separately?
Answer:
Please contact the Intex Service Station according to the information shown in your Owner's Manual.

Question:
Can the pool be left up year-round?
Answer:
It depends on where you live. It is not recommended to keep your pool up if your temperature falls lower than 5 degrees Celsius or 40 degrees Fahrenheit. The pool may freeze and crack the vinyl walls.

Question:
Do I need to keep safety and rescue equipment on hand near my pool?
Answer:
You should always keep rescue equipment by the pool and clearly post emergency numbers by the phone closest to the pool. Recommended items are (but not limited to) a Coast Guard approved ring buoy with attached rope, a standard first aid kit, a strong rigid pole not less than 12' (365.76 cm) and emergency procedure information.

Question:
Do you recommend using chemicals? If so, what kind?
Answer:
Yes. Contact your local pool supply store and provide the estimated number of gallons of water in your pool. Also the Intex Saltwater Pool System (Chlorine Generator) will keep your pool clean from algae and bacteria.

Question:
Does my Intex pool carry a factory warranty?
Answer:
Intex will replace manufacturing defective product within 90 days of purchase (Except filter pumps). The product must be returned to Intex along with a copy of the dated sales receipt, your name, address, telephone number and a brief note explaining reason for return. It is suggested you ship the product to Intex using a traceable shipping method. Intex will not be responsible for product lost in transit. The filter pumps have a one (1) year limited written warranty located in the filter pump manual. The responsibility of the shipping cost to Intex is that of the consumer. Please contact Intex customer service at 1 (800)-234-6839 with any questions.

Question:
Does the ladder, ground cloth and / or cover comes with the pool?
Answer:
It depends on the package purchased. Be sure to read the retail box prior to purchasing.

Question:
Does the liner requires any special care to ensure durability?
Answer:
Keep sharp objects out of the pool or from underneath the pool. Clean the inflatable ring after each use with a damp cloth, and cover the pool when the pool is not in use with a pool cover. Maintain proper pH levels and keep the pool sanitary and clean.

Question:
How do I drain the pool?
Answer:
1. Remove the cap from the drain valve on the outside of the pool wall. 2. Attach the female end of the hose to the hose adapter. 3. Place the end of the hose in an area where the water can be safely drained. 4. Screw the hose adapter to the drain valve. Note: water will start to drain immediately. 5. Disconnect hose adapter when finished. 6. Replace drain plug on the inside of pool for storage. 7. Replace drain cap on outside of pool. 8. Be sure pool liner is completely clean and dry before long-term storage.

Question:
How do I prevent dirt and grime from getting into the pool water?
Answer:
Remind your family and friends to always hose or rinse off any dirt or tanning oil from their hands, feet and body prior to entering the pool. Use the Intex pool cover to keep your pool covered all the time when not in use. This will help keep the wind and the other elements from depositing dirt and debris in your pool.

Question:
How do I prevent the pool from damaging grass, lawn or prevent fungi from developing on concrete?
Answer:
It is not possible to prevent grass or lawn damage under the pool. Keep this in mind when selecting your site for set up. Fungus may develop in shaded areas around the pool. Try to keep these shaded areas free from excess water.

Question:
How does UV affect the materials used?
Answer:
All PVC's degrade over prolonged exposure to excessive sunlight. Intex pools are manufactured with UV inhibitors to delay the degradation caused by sunlight.

Question:
How high can I fill the pool?
Answer:
To the line near the bottom of the inflated ring. Do Not Overfill above the line as this may cause the pool walls to become unstable and possibly result in injury or property damage from the water flowing over the pool wall while in use.

Question:
How long does it take to fill the pool with water?
Answer:
Two or more hours, depending on pool size, hose size and water pressure. Remember to observe the fill up process for several minutes to make sure that the pool is filling evenly and the water surface is level inside the pool.

Question:
How many seasons should the pool last?
Answer:
It normally depends on usage, maintenance and care. Careful maintenance and proper storage of your pool in the off-season will extend its life several seasons.

Question:
How much air should be used to inflate the top ring?
Answer:
Do not over inflate or use high-pressure air compressors. Inflate top ring to be slightly stiff to the touch. An over-inflated ring heated by the sun may burst or lead to leaks in the seam. Pay attention to air temperature variation! In cold ambient temperature the top ring will lose some pressure, air will contract. If this occurs, DO NOT add air since the air inside will expand again once the temperature rises. In hot weather, the air will expand. You MUST let some air out to prevent the top ring from failing due to excess internal pressure.

Question:
How much does water cost to fill the pool?
Answer:
It varies across the world. Contact your local water company for cost information.

Question:
How often should the water be changed?
Answer:
Depending on usage and chemical balance this figure can vary. If properly filtered and chemically balanced, the pool water should last through a summer season. You can reduce the need for water changes by keeping your pool covered when not in use, testing the water regularly to ensure proper chemical balance, operating the pump for an adequate number of hours each day, keeping the filter pump cartridge clean and replacing the cartridge when needed.

Question:
How to prevent black stains around the water level on the top ring?
Answer:
Black stains around the top ring are normally caused by suntan or sunblock lotion that float on the water surface and accumulate on the side. Clean the inflatable ring after each use with a damp cloth, and cover the pool when the pool is not in use with a pool cover. For a better hygiene, always use an Intex Wall Mount Surface Skimmer to clean the water surface on a daily basis, and change the pool water once or twice per summer season.

Question:
Is a DVD available to show how to set up the pool?
Answer:
A DVD is included in all pool packages. If you would like to purchase one you can call the Intex service station listed on your Owner's Manual.

Question:
Is a fence or enclosure required by law?
Answer:
Some cities and towns require owners of certain types of pools, based on size and depth to fence the area where the pool is located. Check your local ordinance.

Question:
Is it safe for my pets to play in the pool?
Answer:
No. Dogs, cats and all other household pets should be kept away from the pool to avoid being trapped inside, and also to protect the structural integrity of the pool. (There is a risk of the sidewalls and inflatable ring becoming punctured by pet claws and teeth).

Question:
Is it safe to jump or dive into the pool off of a ladder or any type of platform?
Answer:
No. Under no circumstances should anyone jump or dive into the pool. Intex does not distribute any pools that are deep enough to allow such activity. Serious injury or death could result from failure to follow these rules.

Question:
Is it safe to lean over, lie down, or sit on top of the pool's inflatable top ring?
Answer:
No. Do not allow any pool occupants (even small children) to lean over, lie down, or sit on the inflatable top ring. This will cause instability in the pool wall and cause the water to flood over the side of the pool.

Question:
Is there a repair patch enclosed for liner repair?
Answer:
Yes. Small tears or holes can be repaired with the enclosed repair kit. The surface should be clean and dry before affixing the patch. NOTE: you can download the INTEX pool patch video at the troubleshooting DVD download section on the INTEX website which will guide you how to patch.

Should I leave my pool outside in snow or freezing winter?
Answer:
No, Above-ground pool may collapse under the weight of ice and snow and the PVC walls will be damaged.

Question:
What could cause the Easy Set pool to be lopsided?
Answer:
The base or bottom of the pool is not laid out properly (flat without wrinkles). The pool liner must extend evenly around the outside of the inflatable ring when filling the pool with water. If this is the case, and the pool is still lopsided, then the ground is not 100% level.

Question:
What is needed to prepare a site for the pool?
Answer:
A flat, solid, level stable surface is needed and all sharp objects must be removed. A ground cloth or tarp should be placed under the pool prior to setting it up.

Question:
What is the approximate depth of the water?
Answer:

Question:
What is the steepest slope that I am able to set up my pool on?
Answer:
The surface must be perfectly flat, solid and level. Pay close attention to the pool's stability and levelness in the early stages of filling your pool up with water. If after about an inch of water is accumulated, and the water is not spreading out evenly, or the pool appears to be bulging to one side, stop filling the pool, drain the water, and select a new level site. If the pool is set up on a slope, the pool will be lopsided and can collapse causing personal injury or property damage.

Question:
What material is the pool made of?
Answer:
Laminated PVC which is made with 3 separate layers of material for extra strength and durability - two outer layers of heavy gauge PVC laminated to an inner layer of polyester mesh for extra reinforcement.

Question:
What might be the problem when the top ring deflates one day after it has been inflated?
Answer:
When a top ring is inflated during a hot and sunny day, the air inside will contract (less pressure) when the ambient temperature drops during the evening or early morning, thus giving a false impression the top ring keeps deflating. Do not over-inflate the top ring, and make sure the air valve is firmly secure and inserted.

Question:
What other surfaces can be safely used to set up my Intex Easy Set Pool?
Answer:
The Easy Set Pool can be set up on grass, compacted dirt, or pavement that is completely flat, level and stable. A ground cloth or tarp is recommended for under the pool. The pool should NOT be set up on sand or muddy ground that could possibly shift. It is NOT recommended to be set up on wooden decks, balconies or elevated platforms.

Question:
What should I do to avoid puncturing the top ring?
Answer:
Keep pets away from the pool. Sharp objects and jewelry like metal wristwatch, bracelets, necklaces, rings, earrings, hairpins should be taken off before entering the pool. The small sharp objects can puncture the PVC ring, or can be sucked into the filter pump causing permanent damage.

Question:
What should I use to clean my pool before storing it for the winter?
Answer:
Mild soap and water. Thoroughly rinse and make sure it is completely dry before storing.

Question:
Where can I buy one?
Answer:

Question:
Why do I find algae in my pool even when I run my filter pump regularly?
Answer:
The pump and filter alone will not prevent algae from growing in pool water; this can only been done by maintaining proper chlorine and pH levels at all time. Purchase an Intex Saltwater Pool System (chlorine generator) or check your local pool supply stores for further information.

Will Intex issue a refund for manufacturing defective product?
Answer:
Any refund request must be made at the original place of purchase.

Question:
Would excessive pool chemicals affect / cause deterioration to liners?
Answer:
Excessive or concentrated chemicals may cause damage to any pool and to the user.

ELECTRIC POOL HEATER

Question:
Can I use INTEX electric pool heater to heat a Spa?
Answer:
No. The INTEX electric pool heater is designed for residential above ground pool use.

Question:
Can I use the heater during the winter?
Answer:
No. The heater is designed to operate in temperatures between 63 Fahrenheit (17 Celsius) to and 95 Fahrenheit (35 Celsius).

Question:
Can I use the heater with INTEX salt water system?
Answer:
Yes. This heater works with the INTEX saltwater system model 8110/8111/ 8220/8221. NOTE: This Heater does not work with INTEX saltwater system model 6110/6220.

Question:
Can I use two or more heaters for my pool?
Answer:
It is recommended that you use only one pool heater, the use of multiple heaters increases the power demand on your household current increasing the risk of fire. The INTEX electric pool heater is designed to meet the need of a round INTEX pools 15 feet in diameter and smaller (IO & U.K) / 12 feet and smaller (IRC).

Question:
Does the heater require maintenance?
Answer:
The INTEX electric pool heater requires little or no maintenance. However, regular maintenance of the pool and its filtration system is crucial.

Question:
How does INTEX electric pool heater work?
Answer:
Water passes by the heating element and returns to the pool continuously, this steadily warms the water.

Question:
Is INTEX electric pool heater easy to use?
Answer:
Yes, INTEX electric pool heater is an automatic heating system. You only need to connect it to your pool and switch it on.

Is it safe to use the pool when INTEX electric pool heater is on
Answer:
No, to insure your safety do not operate the heater when the pool is in use or occupied.

Question:
Is the INTEX electric pool heater easy to install?
Answer:
Yes, simply connect the filter pump outlet hose to the heater inlet and heater outlet to the pool. The INTEX electric pool heater has a build-in GFCI/RCD plug, so you can plug into a normal receptacle.

Question:
Is the INTEX electric pool heater expensive to operate?
Answer:
The cost of running your heater depends on the price of your electricity. To estimate your operation cost: take your price per kilowatt hour (KWH), and multiply it by the power draw of the heater (1.5(IRC) or 3.0(PO) or 2.8 (U.K)) - this equals the cost of heating your pool for an hour

Question:
Is the INTEX electric pool heater safe?
Answer:
Yes. INTEX electric pool heater has four built-in sensors and a GFCI/RCD plug to ensure your safety. The unit also complies with ETL and TUV safety standards (TUV and ETL approved).

Question:
Should I purchase a GFCI (IRC) / RCD (IO) for the heater?
Answer:
No, a GFCI/RCD is pre-installed in the unit. You can connect with normal 15A household receptacle.

Question:
Should I use the pool cover when I use the INTEX electric pool heater?
Answer:
Yes. It is strongly recommended to that you use a pool cover when heating the pool. What should I do if I'm experiencing some difficulty connecting the hoses onto the black protruding hose connectors?
Answer:
Due to variations in ambient temperature, PVC parts may become stiffer or softer. To facilitate the connection of the hoses to the black protruding hose connectors on the pool wall, you may use soapy water solution (mix 6 drops of dish detergent in 1/2 a cup of water) to lubricate the hoses and the black protruding hose connectors. Continue installation per owner's manual. Do not use lubricants such as machine oil, industrial oil, or house grease.

What should I do if the gems from my jewelry go into the filter pump?
Answer:
Sharp objects and jewelry like metal wristwatches, bracelets, necklaces, rings, earrings, and hairpins should be taken off before entering the pool. These types of sharp objects can puncture the PVC ring, just as small gems from jewelry may be sucked into the filter pump, causing further damage. If jewelry or gems are stuck in the filter pump, try to follow the cartridge cleaning instructions from the manual. Take the cartridge off, making sure to shake the gems out from the inlet by holding the filter pump upside down.

Excessive use of pool chemicals can cause the color of the inside wall printing to fade away faster, like a heavy chlorinated public swimming will cause bathing suit color to fade.

My pool has a milky color, do I need to change the water or is it treatable?
Answer:
Water condition varies from country to country, states, region, and within specific zones and areas. In some region the water could be hard, "hard water", this is because the water contains excessive minerals, such as calcium and magnesium, thus causing the water to adopt a milky color. Check your local pool supply store for advice on water treatment and balance.

Other than Intex #10114 or #10181, what other repair glue do you recommend for Intex pools and AGP?
Answer:
PVC or silicon based glue for repairing camping mats, tents, shoes, inflatable boats, etc are suitable for Intex pools.

What is the best way to remove algae stains from the pool liner?

How does Intex saltwater pool system generate chlorine?
Answer:
Common salt (sodium chlorine) is made up of two elements; sodium and chlorine. Salt water passes through the saltwater pool system's electrolytic cell to produce chlorine, which is then dissolved instantly in the water. This continuous process destroys bacteria, viruses, algae, and oxidizes other organic materials in the pool.

How does the salt affect the vinyl?
Answer:
The salt will have no effect on the vinyl. In fact, because the salt and the chlorine produced by the Saltwater Pool System are much gentler than standard chlorine, it may be easier on the vinyl than standard pool water treated with standard chlorine chemicals.

How long does it take for the Saltwater Pool System to clear the "green" water from my pool?
Answer:
The Intex Saltwater Pool Systems work very quickly, and will immediately begin eliminating bacteria and algae from pool water. However, the exact amount of time needed to transform dirty, dangerous pool water to safe, clean, clear, fresh pool water will depend on a number of factors including how dirty the pool water is to start with, the size of the pool, and the temperature of the outside air.

How often do you run the Saltwater Pool System?

The Saltwater Pool System should be run every day, just as the filter pump should be run everyday. The length of time that the Saltwater Pool System should run will depend on your local conditions, including temperature, rainfall, size of pool, and number of swimmers using the pool. If I am allergic to chlorine, can I still swim in the pool?
Answer:
Allergic conditions are unique to the individual person, so it is not possible to answer this question for all people. However, because of the much lower level of chlorine in the water in a salt water pool, and the absence of other compounds associated with traditional packaged chlorine, many individuals who are allergic to traditional packaged chlorine, can safely swim in and enjoy a salt water pool maintained by a chlorine generator.

If the Saltwater Pool System runs too long, will it over chlorinate the pool?
Answer:
It is possible to run the system for a longer period of time than is necessary. However, because chlorine dissipates over time (which is why pool owners must constantly go to the store, constantly purchase, and continually add standard chlorine to their pools), if you happen to run your Saltwater Pool System too long, you can simply begin running it for a shorter period the next day, and your pool will be fine. The best way to determine the optimal length of time to operate your system is to experiment with different operating lengths of time, and to test the amount of chlorine in your pool using the chlorine test strips provided by Intex. Due to various local, state, national and international standards, do not operate the device when pool is in use and/or occupied.

Since the operating cycle can be set for different operating hours each day, the system will work with all pool sizes under virtually any operating conditions. It is necessary to attach an Intex Filter Pump to the Generator in order to maintain proper water conditions. Natural salt is added one time directly to the pool water when the saltwater system is installed, and does not have to be replaced. The Saltwater Pool System / Filter Pump Combo (Model 8111/8221/8231) is equipped with both the Chlorine Generator and a 2000 gph/H Filter Pump as one unit. The Low-Salt Automatic Saltwater System (Model 6110/6220) enables you to add salt directly into its salt tank instead of adding salt into the pool water. What if the water is accidentally swallowed? Is it harmful in any way?

No. The saltwater is completely safe for human swimming. Swallowing small amounts of salt water pool water though not recommended, is not harmful.

What is the chemical process that takes place in a Saltwater Pool System?

The chemical process is very simple. Salt and water are combined with a low-level electrical charge inside the Saltwater Pool System to produce Sodium Hydroxide which converts to Hypochlorous Acid. Light, in the form of sunlight, converts the Hypochlorous Acid to Hydrochloric Acid, which then reverts back to salt and water. This process means that the agents that eliminate bacteria and algae in the pool water are continuously produced in the Saltwater Pool System, and when used up, revert back to plain, natural, salt and water in an ongoing cycle, never needing replacement. Even though the water in your pool will evaporate, only the water is absorbed into the air. The salt remains in your pool. So you will need to add water occasionally, but not salt. However, If water is removed or spilled out of your pool, obviously the salt in the water is also lost. So in this instance, depending on how much water is removed from the pool, some salt may have to be added. But under normal operating conditions, salt will not need to be added.

What is the life expectancy of the Saltwater Pool System?
Answer:
The life expectancy of the Saltwater Pool System depends on several conditions: the condition of the water in the pool (hardness, calcium level, etc.), the amount of hours it is run each day, and the amount of swimmers using the pool. The only part that could need replacing in the Saltwater Pool System is the electrolytic cell, which can be purchased separately. The Intex Saltwater Pool Systems are designed with special features including an automatic self-cleaning cycle to maximize the life of the electrolytic cell, and a user-diagnostic warning system that protects the unit from operating conditions that could damage the machine.

What type of salt should be used?
Answer:
Use only sodium chloride (NaCl) salt that is at least 99.8% pure. In models 8110, 8220, 8111, 8221 (NOT IN MODELS 6110, 6220),. It is also acceptable to use water conditioning salt pellets (the compressed forms of evaporated salt), but it will take longer for these to dissolve. Do not use iodized or yellow (yellow prussiate of soda) colored salt. The purer the salt, the better is the performance of the electrolytic cell.

What type of service is needed to maintain the Saltwater Pool System's performance?
Answer:
he Intex Saltwater Pool Systems are designed to operate with a minimum amount of maintenance. It is recommended to always turn the pump on prior to turning on the Saltwater Pool System (see Owner's Manual) unless the chlorine generator is part of a combination pool and filter set, to ensure that air pockets are eliminated from the hoses, and that water is flowing through the unit. In addition, the electrolytic cell should be examined and cleaned if necessary. The frequency of cleaning will depend on the local water conditions, pool usage conditions, and length of time the Saltwater Pool System is operated each day. (See Owner's Manual.) The Intex Saltwater Pool Systems contain several features that minimize maintenance requirements: 1.) An automatic self-cleaning cycle: The Saltwater Pool System automatically undergoes a self-cleaning cycle to maximize the operating length of the electrolytic cell. 2.) Safety diagnostics: the Saltwater Pool System will alert the operator to three conditions that could result in poor operation: Low water flow through the unit, Low Salt level in the pool water, High salt level in the pool water. If any of these conditions exist, the system will sound a buzzer, and flash a digital code on the control panel (Model 8110/8111/8220/8221) or a Red LED will light up. Other than more frequent cleaning, it will not affect the ability of your Saltwater Pool System to perform its functions.

No. Salt is a natural product, and will not produce any by-products, regardless of how long it is used. In fact, salt is much safer than the compounds used with traditional, packaged chlorine. No. The ground must be flat, solid, level and stable. If the pool is set up on ground that is not level the water will shift to one side, create stress on the pool frame and the pool will become unstable and possibly collapse causing personal injury or property damage.

Can a portable water heater be used for this type of pool?
Answer:

Can sand be used to level the ground at the pool site?

No. Sand has a tendency to shift, therefore causing the pool to lean to one side and creating stress on the pool frame. The legs of the pool will also sink into the sand and the pool will become unstable and possibly collapse causing personal injury or property damage.

Can the pool be left up year-round?

It depends on where you live. It is not recommended to keep your pool up if your temperature falls below 5 degrees Celsius or 40 degrees Fahrenheit. The pool may freeze, and cracking could occur in the pools liner.

You should always have standard safety equipment on hand in the immediate pool area. Recommended items are (but not limited to) an approved ring buoy with reinforced rope, a standard first aid kit, a blunt ended metal or hard plastic rescue pole, emergency telephone numbers of local authorities, and emergency procedure information.

It is suggested that you ship the product to Intex using a traceable shipping method. Intex will not be responsible for any product lost in transit. The filter pumps have a one (1) year limited written warranty located in the filter pump manual. The responsibility of the shipping cost to Intex is that of the consumer.

Keep sharp objects out of the pool or from underneath the pool. Cover the pool when the pool is not in use with a pool cover. Maintain proper pH levels; keep the pool sanitary and clean.

How do I prevent dirt and grime from getting into the pool water?

Remind your family and friends to always hose or rinse off any dirt or tanning oil from their hands, feet and body prior to entering the pool. Use the Intex pool cover to keep your pool covered when not in use. This will help keep the wind and other elements from depositing dirt and debris in your pool.

Why does the rope seams tear sometimes? What causes tears in the pool liner?

Make sure the ground on which you place the pool is level. A sloping area may cause the poles to slide out and break away from the seal of the rope patch, or the pool liner.

Do not over inflate or use high-pressure air compressors. Inflate top ring to be slightly stiff to the touch. An over-inflated ring heated by the sun may burst or lead to leaks in the seam. Pay attention to air temperature variation! In cold weather the top ring will lose some pressure, air will contract. If this occurs, DO NOT add air since the air inside will expand again once the temperature RISES. In hot weather, the air will expand. You MUST let some air out to prevent the top ring from failing due to excess internal pressure.

How come the pool starts to tilt to one side even when I have already set it up on level ground?

The ground is not totally level. If this is the only area to set up the pool then a level must be used and either pressure treated wood or concrete bricks placed under the lowest leg areas to build the top beams to a level configuration.

How do I insert the metal poles into the pool liner?
Answer:
With two adults setting up the pool, have one person hold up the liner while the second person slides the metal beams through liner sleeves.

In what sequence should the pool be put together?

With 2 adults, it is best to put the frame together starting with one end, pinning the side supports in the corners first, and then proceeding to pin the beams one side at a time.

No. It is not recommended to attach any INTEX accessories (except filter pump) when you are using saltwater system, because it will affect the performance of the saltwater system and may cause false alarms. If you want to use other accessories, please turn off the saltwater system during the period when using other accessories.

Can I use the saltwater system with a non-intex filter pump or sand filter?

We do not recommend using this Intex saltwater system with a non-Intex pump or any kind of sand filters.

Do I have to agitate the water in the salt tank?
Answer:
No, a built-in pump will agitate the saltwater and it helps the salt dissolve into the water.

Do I have to reset the operating time after a power cut?
Answer:
Yes, if you prefer the unit to start at the original time. Otherwise, the 24 hour clock will start from the time that the power returns and recalculate the operation hours. In this case, you have to adjust your filter pump operation hours accordingly.

Do I have to set the operating time every day?
Answer:
No, the Intex saltwater system has a built-in automatic 24 hour timer system. It starts work automatically everyday from the time you power on the unit. If you want to change the operation starting time, you power off the unit and power it on at your desired time.

How can I adjust the operating time? What does "1, 2, 3, 4, 5" on the time control dial stand for?

You can adjust the operating time by using a coin to adjust the time control dial. The numbers "1, 2, 3, 4, 5" stand for 1, 2, 4, 6 and 12 operating hours respectively. Please refer to "Intex Pools Operating Time Table" in the Owner’s Manual for details.

How do I add Salt?

Measure out four full scoops of salt (total 1kg or 2.2lbs) , or three full scoops of salt (total 750g or 1.65lbs) when the weather is very hot, into the salt container with the measuring scoops provided (see owner's manual).

Should I add salt every day?

NOTE: To ensure pool water cleanliness, always add salt when the saltwater level reaches the minimum level or the LED red light is on. (See Owner's manual).

What is the replenishment cycle for salt and water?
Answer:
When you use the system for the first time, please check the saltwater level in the saltwater tank everyday. Add the salt and water when the saltwater level reaches the minimum water level (at the step level = 8cm from the bottom) or when the red indicator/ alarm is on. The number of days to reach the minimum level is your replenishment cycle. Note: "salt and water replenishment cycle" is provided in the "Intex Pool Operating Time Table" in the Owner's Manual for your reference. However, the actual replenishment cycle may vary due to the following factors: pool water level, filter pump size, length of the pump hose, the position (height) of the saltwater system.

What should I do if the saltwater system stops pumping when the saltwater tank is still half full? (Water flow and salt level are ok)
Answer:
You should lift the whole saltwater system up to about 10 -20 cm (4-8 inches) high with bricks. If it still does not solve the problem, please contact Intex Consumer Service Center for replacement.

What should I do when my saltwater tank runs dry faster than the stated days for replenishment in the Owner's Manual?
Answer:
The replenishment cycle to add salt and water may vary depending on the size of the pool, size and position of the filter pump, condition of the filter, etc. To ensure pool water cleanliness, always add salt when the water level is lower than the minimum water level or red indicator is on (see owner's manual).

There are several things you may need to check and do: First a).Open the top cover and check if the salt water has run out. Why does my pool still look green even though I followed the instructions described in the Owner's Manual?
Answer:
The residual sanitizer level in the water depends on several factors: the temperature, the wind, the UV light and number of swimmers. Please test the sanitizer level with test strips. In this situation, we recommend that you run the saltwater system at night or prolong the operating hours by shifting to a higher level.

Question:
Why is it difficult to install the saltwater tank onto the base?
Answer:
This may be caused by the rubber ring on the base connection. The rubber ring is thick to prevent salt water from leaking. If you find your saltwater tank hard to install, please pour some water or spread some oil on the rubber to lubricate it for easy installation. Note: Please watch the water filter (part #12 in Parts Reference in the Owner's Manual). It might be caught between the base rubber ring and the saltwater tank.

Question:
Why is the green indicator (on the right side) not immediately on when I turn on the system?
Answer:
The green indicator will turn on when the system starts producing chlorine, which will occur approximately 10 minutes after the system is turned on.

Question:
Will my pool water become very salty?
Answer:
No. Although the INTEX saltwater system adds a small quantity of salt to the pool water, it takes about half a year to reach a salt level of 3g/L which can hardly be tasted. Note: Human taste salt level at about 4-5g/L. Sea water salt level is 30g/L. It takes 5 years for the salt concentration form saltwater system to reach the sea water level.

SALTWATER SYSTEM (MODEL 8110/8111/8220/8221)

Question:
Can I pre-program the startup time like my VCR (Video Cassette Recorder)?
Answer:
No, the system cannot be pre-programmed. However, since the system works on a 24 hour clock, you can set it to automatically start it at the same time each day.

Question:
Can I stop the timer or change the startup time?
Answer:
Yes, you can stop the timer by switching off your unit to clear the memory. Daily startup time can also be changed when you reset the operation time manually. See the Owner's Manual for more details.

Question:
Do I add salt to the pool or to the pump?
Answer:
Salt is added directly to the pool water at the rate of 25 pounds per 1,000 gallons or 3 kg per 1,000 liters of water. Salt comes in 10 to 30 kg bags, and is available at most home supply, pool supply, plumbing supply, and even many grocery stores. Do not use iodized salt. See Owner's Manual.

Question:
Does the stand-alone Saltwater Pool System require any cartridges as the pump does?
Answer:
No. The only replaceable part in the Saltwater Pool Systems is the electrolytic cell. The life of the cell varies depending on water conditions, pool usage, and operating time of the chlorine generator. The Intex Saltwater Pool Systems are designed with a self-cleaning cycle to maximize the life of the electrolytic cell. Routine maintenance (as described in the Owner's Manual) will further lengthen the life of the electrolytic cell.

Question:
How does the addition of salt to my pool generate chlorine?
Answer:
Salt alone does not generate the chlorine in your pool water. It is the combination of the salt in the water, plus the low level electrical charge that takes place in the titanium-coated electrolytic cell in the Saltwater Pool System that produces the algae and bacteria eliminating agents that purify the pool water.

Question:
How does the timer work?
Answer:
The timer works automatically. After the operating time is set, the system will automatically turn itself back on in 24 hours to continue its daily chlorine production.

Question:
How much salt should be used?
Answer:
25 pounds per 1,000 gallons or 3 kg per 1,000 liters of water. This level is one-tenth of the level of salt in the ocean, so you will not see, taste, or feel the salt in your pool. In addition, although water evaporates and has to be added to your pool, salt does not evaporate. So unless you spill water out of your pool, once you have the right level of salt in your pool, you never have to add any more. Just add water when it evaporates, and the salt level will remain the same.

Question:
I bought an AGP Set with a saltwater pool system/filter pump combination (combo), I do not want to add salt because I do not want to use the chlorinator. Is it possible to run just the pump to filter the water at least?
Answer:
Yes. Turn the switch on and the filter pump starts filtering the water like a stand alone filter pump.

Question:
I have a saltwater pool system/filter pump combination unit (combo), can I run just the filter pump only after the chlorinator has finished without re-setting or erasing the chlorinator's programmed timer?
Answer:
No. If there is a need to run the filter pump for extra time "only" after the system finishes its work, the only way is to flick the main switch OFF & ON and the pump will start running. This will erase the automatic timer-cycle program set in the memory for the daily chlorine production. When the extra filtration hours are over, re-reprogram the unit following the owner's manual.

Question:
If my pool loses water, how do I know how much salt to replace? What happens if I add too much salt?
Answer:
The amount of salt you will need to add to your pool will depend on how much pool water is lost. Salt should be added to the pool at the rate of 25 pounds per 1,000 gallons or 3 kg per 1,000 liters. Since this may be tough to judge, the best method to determine how much salt to add is to use salt level test strips, which are widely available at pool stores. See Owner's Manual for salt table list.

Question:
The salt table on the saltwater pool system packaging only shows 15' and above AGP sizes. Is the saltwater pool system suitable for AGP below 15'?
Answer:
The saltwater pool system is able to work with small pools as long as the water flow rate of the filter pump meets the required minimum flow rate shown on the packaging and/or owner's manual. Follow the owner's manual instructions to calculate the required initial amount of salt and operating hours for small pools. Always check the chlorine level in the water before entering the pool with the 3-way test strips included.

Question:
What does code 90 mean?
Answer:
There are several things you may need to check and do: a).Ensure the pool pump is on and running. b).Ensure the plunger valves on the pool (if any) are opened. c).Ensure the filter cartridge, cell and debris screen are clean from debris and dirt. Why is there no display on the LED screen?
Answer:
A few reasons may cause the LED not to appear: a) The system is in Power Saving Mode. Press either the Up of Down button to view the last LED code. b) There is zero salt concentration in the pool (No Salt). Add salt according to Salt Table in the owner's manual. c) There may be no power supply. Check if the power cord is loose or not connected properly. d) The Electrolytic cell cord may be loose. Ensure the cell cord is plugged firmly into the cell housing receptacle. e) If no problem is found with the power supply, there may be a blown power fuse or LED (Light Emitting Diode) failure. Please contact Intex Service Center for replacement.

SEQUOIA SPIRIT

Question:
Can I leave my pool outside during the winter?
Answer:
We recommend storing your pool during the winter and your pool is designed to be easily emptied and stored in a safe place. If you choose leave your pool up year round. In areas where freezing temperatures occur, there is risk of ice damage. It is recommended to drain, disassemble and store the pool in a safe place when temperatures drop below 41 degrees Fahrenheit (5 degrees Celsius)

Can I upgrade my filter pump?
Answer:
Yes, but we don’t recommend upgrading your filter pump. Our pump enclosure only supports an INTEX 1500gph/5678Lph (model 635/636) pump, thus the upgraded pump may not fit into the pump enclosure.

Can I use some sanitizer device like saltwater pool system?

Yes, but we don't recommend that, because the sanitizer device may not fit into the pump enclosure.

What is "STRAINER VALVE CAP" used for? How can I use it?
Answer:
Two strainer valve caps are included to prevent water from leaking as you fill the pool prior to assembling the Sequoia Spirit. Just insert the two caps into the strainer before filling the pool with water. Note: remember to remove them the strainer valve caps before using the pool.

The ground area where the pool is to be set up must be absolutely flat and level. Do not set up the pool on a slope or inclined surface. The ground surface must be compacted and firm enough to withstand the pressure and weight of a fully set up pool. Do not set up the pool on mud, sand, soft or loose soil conditions. Do not set up the pool on a deck or platform. NOTE: The pool requires at least 4 feet of space all around pool from objects that a child could climb on to gain access to the pool.

Why are the side panels not fitting together?
Answer:
1) Inclined ground condition. Please follow the ground preparation instructions in the owner's manual. 2) Incomplete components. Please check with Parts List and Reference in the owner's manual. If any components are missing, please contact intex service center. 3) Incorrect assembly steps. Please follow the Set Up Instructions in the owner's manual. You must fill the pool with water before assembling the wood grain enclosure.

Why does the enclosure look crooked once it is assembled?

SOLAR COVER

Does Intex have solar covers for rectangular and oval pools?
Answer:
No.

My solar cover doesn't fit my easy-set pool. Do I have the wrong size? What should I do?
Answer:
The diameter of the solar cover perfectly matches e round metal frame pools, due to the shape of the easy set pool, you need to fold the edge of the solar cover under the top ring.

What are the benefits of using a solar cover?
Answer:
90% of a swimming pools heat is lost through the water surface; use of solar cover will greatly reduce the heat lost. It will prolong your swimming season. We strongly recommend you use a solar cover with Intex's Electric Pool Heater, it will greatly help hold the heat in reduce your heating costs.

SPRAYER

Question:
Can I use the pool with the sprayer on?
Answer:
No, due to various local, state, national and international standards, the skimmer and sprayer cannot be operated while in the pool since the filter pump is not to be operated when the pool is in use and/or occupied.

Question:
Can I use the sprayer with other filter pump brands?
Answer:
No. We do not recommend the sprayer on filter pumps other than INTEX models. The joints may not fit correctly and the pressure may be too high, causing damage to the product and / or personal injury.

Question:
What are the correct steps to insert the flow reduction adapter into the strainer (for rectangular metal frame pool 12'x24'x48" only)?
Answer:
Remember to always turn off or unplug the pump before servicing. From inside the pool, unscrew the strainer grid from the threaded strainer connector, insert the flow reduction adapter into the threaded strainer connector, and then screw the strainer grid back on the threaded strainer connector.

Question:
What is the minimum flow rate that is functional with the sprayer?
Answer:
1,000 gal/hr is the minimum flow rate of INTEX filter pumps if the sprayer is to be used effectively.

Question:
What is the spray range for the Intex sprayer?
Answer:
The maximum range depends on the flow rate of the filter pump. For 1,000 - 1,500 gal/hr filter pump like Model 12R/22R and Model 635/636, the water can spray up to 9' with proper adjustment of the bypass valve. For 2,000 - 2,500 gal/hr filter pump as Model 51/52 and Model 633/634, the water can spray up to 23' by adjusting the bypass valve. For 3,000-gal/hr filter pump as Model 520R/530R the water can spray up to 24' by adjusting the bypass valve.

Question:
Which model filter pump or pools are compatible with the sprayer?
Answer:
The sprayer can be used with all Intex filter pump models (except models M1, M2, 02, 03R, 603, 604, 637 & 638) and with chlorine generator/filter pump (saltwater pool system/filter pump) models 8111/8221/8231. All the Easy Set and Frame pools work with the sprayer as long as the liner has the proper inlet/outlet hose connectors.

Question:
Which water return connector should I connect the sprayer to, since there are two water return connectors on my 12'x24'x48" rectangular metal frame pool liner?
Answer:
Either one works fine. After connecting the sprayer to a water return connector, remember to insert the flow reduction adapter into the strainer on the other water return connector. This will provide a good water flow rate to the sprayer.

WALL MOUNTED SURFACE SKIMMER

Question:
After setting up the surface skimmer on an AGP and plugging in the filter pump, the skimmer starts to vibrate and propel towards the outside lifting the skimmer out of the water surface. What should I do?
Answer:
Ensure the surface skimmer hose is connected to the suction port, from the pool to the pump, and is setup to the right or left of the suction port (offset).
